Democracy North Carolina says federal, state and local officials should investigate whether allies of former Gov. Pat McCrory and the state Republican Party broke laws when hundreds of people were accused of unfoundede voter fraud or absentee ballot irregularities last November. The organization released a report Tuesday -- the product of a five-month investigation -- that it says documents false allegations of voter misconduct and a pattern of unsubstantiated claims of election fraud and irregularities. Democracy NC is calling for a criminal investigation by state and federal agencies into "wrongdoing related to preparing, filing and promoting bogus charges of voter fraud." The full report, "The Deceit of Voter Fraud," is online here.
