2015 Watermelon Day at the Museum of Life + Science
Watermelon Day at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday.

As I wrote earlier, this is the annual event where the museum's animals have a blast busting into whole melons, frozen melon pops and more. And, this year, the museum's four wolf pups will get in on the action. The day offers a chance for the animals to cool off - but also so visitors can learn more about hot weather animal care. The museum encourages visitors to bring a melon for the museum's keepers to share with the animals.

Here's the schedule for when the animals will be enjoying a juicy slice - or entire melon:

10 a.m., pigs in The Farmyard

11 a.m., lemurs in Lemur Outlook

Noon, bears in the Main Bear Outlook

1 p.m., farmyard animals in The Farmyard

2 p.m., wolves (including those adorable wolf pups) in the Wolf Yard

3 p.m., skunk, the Aviary and the muskrats in the Carolina Wildlife exhibit on the first floor of the museum

4 p.m., bears in the Main Bear Outlook

Watermelon Day is free with admission, which is $18 per person and $13 for kids ages 3 to 12.
