Reminder: Walmart offering gift card exchange option

Posted December 27, 2014

Walmart is offering a very interesting gift card exchange as of 12/25. You can exchange gift cards from over 200 other merchants for a Walmart gift card.

Beginning December 25, you can go to and get an offer of up to 97% of the value of the card to exchange it for a Walmart e-gift card.  For instance, you can get 95% of the face value of an Amazon gift card and 85% of a Gap gift card. A $50 Kohl's gift card would be worth $43.05.

If you want to accept their offer, you will then enter the information from the other merchant's gift card. Once they verify the balance, you will receive a Walmart e-gift card via e-mail. The gift card can be used at,, Walmart stores and Neighborhood Markets (print it out and hand it to the cashier), and Sam’s Club (print it out and hand it to the cashier).

It usually takes 1 to 2 hours to verify the balance on the other merchant's card, but in some cases it can take up to 24 hours.

There are other sites like, and that also offer gift card exchanges or sales.

BEWARE OF THIS!! The website,, states you will receive the Walmart eGift card in 1-2 hours. I've been waiting for 4 days. The phone number to call is (800) 692-7611, but you do not get anything but a short message and they hang up on you. The email address is, but I have not received a response from my inquiry sent 3 days ago.

Someone gave my son a VISA my vanilla card. You have to go online to register it and when we did we found out you have to be 18 and they want your SSN. He said he would pass.

computer trainer - when you agree to the offer they provide, you will then type in the gift card number and pin and give it to them digitally on their website. They then verify it and send you the Walmart e-gift card in 1-2 hours. Once you give the other store's gift card number to them digitally, they have your gift card and your plastic one is no longer valid. You should not be required to take it in or mail it anywhere.

Faye, so what do you do with the gift card that you exchanged? Do you have to take it or mail it to Walmart?
