A heads up for parents in Wake County and Johnston County.

All schools in the Wake County Public School System will be on a two-hour delay on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8.

That means your child's school will start two hours later than normal. So if the school opens at 8 a.m. on a regular day, it will open at 10 a.m. on Election Day.

Turnout is expected to be high for the hotly contested general election and many schools are polling places.

And, two Johnston County schools, both polling places, will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. East Clayton Elementary School and River Dell Elementary School will be closed that day.

"This decision was based on the recommendation of the Johnston County Board of Elections due to safety concerns as the result of expected high volume of voters utilizing these schools, parking lots and connecting roads/highways," according to the school system's website.

East Clayton and River Dell students will complete a full day of school on Feb. 23 to make up for the loss of instructional time on Nov. 8. Feb. 23 had been an early release day.

Vote, everybody!
