The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh is gearing up for an annual event that showcases STEM careers for students with disabilities.

The STEM Career Showcase for Students with Disabilities is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, Oct. 9. During the event, attendees can meet role models with disabilities who have thriving careers in the science, technology, engineering and math fields. Students also will get a better understand of the professional possibilities available and the inspiration to pursue STEM careers, according to the museum.

The free event is designed for students in grades sixth to twelfth grade. If a student can't attend, the museum will be livestreaming the event for free as well.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited, which is why I'm writing about this now. Registration opens Aug. 10. The natural sciences' museum's website has more information and registration details. You also can contact Liani Yirka, curator of special populations, at liani.yirka@naturalsciences.org or 919-707-9887 for more information.
