Registration open for Poe's mother-daughter puberty program

The next session of Girl Talk, a program for moms and their tween daughters, is set for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., June 17, at the Poe Center for Health Education in Raleigh.

The long-running Poe program "addresses the timely topic of adolescent growth and development and the physical, social and emotional changes that girls experience during puberty," according to the center.

Moms and daughters will get to see exhibits in the center's 3D theater, take part in hands-on activities and participate in candid discussions that explore a range of topics - from the reproductive system to the menstrual cycle and feminine hygiene products. It's best for girls in fourth to sixth grade. The cost is $25 for each mother and daughter pair and $10 more for each additional daughter.
