RALEIGH, N.C. — Time Warner Cable said it would provide refunds to customers who lost phone service for more than an hour Wednesday during a regional outage.

Power went out at Time Warner's regional data center in Raleigh during a routine test of the building's fire suppression system at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, officials said. The company is investigating the cause of the outage.

Internet service was restored in about an hour, and phone service was restored later in the day, officials said. Phone service had to be interrupted again for about an hour Wednesday afternoon to repair lingering problems in the system, officials said.

Cable television service wasn't affected by the outage.
