FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Red Springs man was killed Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle wreck in Fayetteville, police said.

The wreck occurred at about 2:30 p.m. at Village and Owen drives, near Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, police said.

A Ford pickup truck was southbound on Owen Drive when it collided with a GMC van that was westbound on Village Drive, police said. The pickup then overturned and hit a Chevrolet Suburban.

The driver of the pickup, Herman Douglas, 86, Covington Road, was killed, and the drivers of the other vehicles, Curtis Cahoon, 23, and Venus Taumanupepe, 27, both of Fayetteville, suffered minor injuries, police said.

No charges have been filed in the wreck, which remains under investigation.

Police asked drivers to avoid the area for much of the afternoon as they investigated the case and removed the vehicles from the intersection.
