Vanilla steamer
My younger daughter just spent three hours playing in the sleet - then snow - this morning. And, when she came in for lunch, instead of the usual hot chocolate I make on snowy days, I made her a vanilla steamer - her go-to order when we're at a coffee shop.

It's simply steamed milk, vanilla and sugar. And it's so yummy!

Here's how to make it ...

Vanilla Steamer
1.5 cups milk
2 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. granulated sugar

Warm milk over medium heat, but just make sure you keep it from boiling or bubbling. Pour in the vanilla and sugar and stir so that the sugar is dissolved and the vanilla is incorporated. Again, be careful that it doesn't start bubbling up. Take it off the heat. To get the milk frothy, put it in a blender on high for about a minute. Or, as I did, you can use an immersion blender to whip up a nice foam.

Pour it into a mug and top with whipped cream and a little cinnamon. The drink isn't super sweet so the whipped cream definitely adds a nice touch if your kids enjoy something a little sweeter.

Stay warm!
