— Warmer weather calls for refreshing cocktails – check out this southern inspired recipe from Durham Distillery.

The recipe makes two drinks.

Conniption Gin Basil Smash

  • 2-3 basil leaves
  • 2 oz. Conniption American Dry Gin
  • 1 oz. fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • 8 drops Crude Rizzo Bitters
  • 2-3 oz. club soda

Tear up basil leaves and muddle gin with the leaves for 20 to 30 seconds in a cocktail shaker (no ice). Add lemon juice, simple syrup and bitters, and shake. Split into two rocks glasses with ice and top with 2 or 3 ounces of club soda (or to taste).

Stir and enjoy!
