Making minions in cupcake form couldn't be easier.

Despicable Me Minion Cupcakes

Seriously!! How cute are these? I love the movie Despicable Me. It’s entertaining for all ages and the scenes featuring the minions are hilarious. And making minions in cupcake form couldn’t be easier.

Thankfully Twinkies are back on the shelves since they make the perfect minion body. With an edible marker and some white chocolate eyes, you’ve got yourself a minion in no time! You can use whatever combination of cupcake flavor and frosting you like the best. The amount of blue food coloring to get this color will dye your tongue blue, which might be fun for your Lil’ Chef, but if blue icing isn’t appealing to you, you can use white frosting with blue sprinkles or sparkling sugar.

This is a Lil’ Chef friendly project! So get your children ready, put the movie on in the background and start baking!

Despicable Me Minion Cupcakes
Ingredients
24 cupcakes (box mix is fine – make according to package directions)
1 container icing (you can make buttercream or use store bought canned icing with blue food coloring. Add 2 tablespoons powdered sugar if needed to thicken).
12 Twinkies
Black edible marker (found in most craft and art supply stores)

White chocolate melts or white chocolate chips

Directions

Bake cupcakes according to your favorite recipe or boxed mix and prepare frosting. I made the eyes by piping melted white chocolate melts into circles. You can also just use white chocolate chips (but they won't lay as flatly) or candy eyes from a specialty store such as Michaels or AC Moore.

Cut Twinkies in half and use the edible marker to draw the line for the goggles across the halved Twinkie. Use some melted chocolate to secure the eyes on top of the drawn line and allow the chocolate to set. Draw the mouth and then place one prepared minion on top of each cupcake.
