Who doesn’t love melt in your mouth donuts?  However, the extra frying of donuts adds so many unwanted calories and tons of fat!  Try this super simple recipe with your lil’ chef at home.

You can purchase the donut pans at many locations throughout the Triangle including Bed Bath and Beyond and Target.  For an extra fancy treat, you can add colored sugar rather than cinnamon sugar!

Baked Cinnamon Sugar Donuts
2 cups Bisquick
2 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
¼ cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 Mini Donut pan (available at many store such as Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc)

Directions

Heat oven to 425°F. Spray mini doughnut pan with cooking spray.
Mix together Bisquick, 2 tablespoons sugar, the nutmeg, milk, egg and vanilla with spoon until blended. Spoon batter into pan, using about 1 tablespoon for each doughnut.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Remove doughnuts from pan to cooling rack; cool 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, in small bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon.
Brush melted butter on the tops of doughnuts.

Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar on top. Serve warm.
