​Kroger has issued a voluntary recall of several varieties of apples that may potentially be contaminated with listeria. North Carolina is included in this recall.

According to Kroger, the apples were sold in stores in several states, including North Carolina, Georgia; South Carolina; Auburn, Alabama; Central and Northwest Ohio; Northwestern Virginia panhandle; Michigan; Hopkinsville and Bowling Green, Kentucky; Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee; Huntsville, Alabama; Virginia; Eastern West Virginia; Eastern Kentucky; Southeastern Ohio;.

The apples impacted by the recall include:

* MICHIGAN APPLES - FUJI from Jack Brown Produce in a 5 lb mesh bag

79954-04131

* MICHIGAN APPLES - GALA from Jack Brown Produce in a 5 lb mesh bag

UPC codes include:

79954-08691

79954-04132

In addition, various Fuji and Gala large and lunch box size apples in Georgia; South Carolina; Auburn, Alabama; Hopkinsville and Bowling Green, Kentucky; Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee; Huntsville, Alabama have also been recalled. They include Fuji apples with PLU 4131 and 4132 and Gala apples with PLU 4129.

Anybody with apples affected by the recall should throw them away or return them to the store for a full refund.
