RDU passengers face weather delays, cancellations

Kristen Ricciuti is a Wake County School teacher on spring break. She and her family were heading to Las Vegas.

"We have to cancel our shuttle," Riccuti said. "We're not going to make out hotel tonight."

"We were supposed to leave at 6:30, and our flight was delayed until 7:42 p.m. And we're missing our layover in Atlanta."

Many travelers were frustrated. Some waited three to four hours because of delays.

"I had an Orlando to North Carolina to Orlando, and my morning flight got delayed, so now I'm here trying to get home," Clayton Maxwell said.

Delta has a major hub in Atlanta. Wednesday's destructive storms across the Southeast forced the Airline to cancel or delay hundreds of flights.

"I'm heading home back to Iowa see my friends and to a bridal shower and bachelorette party," traveler Holly Renaud said.

Many Friday night flights were rescheduled for Saturday morning.

Sue Ravenscroft is an accounting professor in town to speak at NC State. Now it appears she could be stuck in Raleigh an extra day or two.

"I'm trying to get back home to Ames, Iowa," Ravenscroft said. "So it doesn't look like we're getting home tonight, and from what I hear, I might not be getting home until Monday."

Saturday could be another long day for Delta Airlines passengers.

The best thing to do is call ahead to make sure your flight is on schedule.
