Raleigh woman paralyzed after robber shoots her

RALEIGH, N.C. — A woman who was paralyzed from a gunshot fired by a robber, along with her family and police are asking the public to help detectives identify the gunman.
Media outlets report that 43-year-old Natalia Valle-Herrera was shot on Sept. 4 while being robbed at her Raleigh home. Valle-Herrera and her husband, Benacio Aguilar Zavala, had just returned from the hospital where Aguilar-Zavala had received treatment for an injury.
Aguilar-Zavala says that as he and his wife approached their apartment door that night, a suspect approached with a handgun and robbed the couple. The suspect fired a shot that struck Valle-Herrera and severed her spine, leaving her paralyzed in her legs.
