Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh woman got more than $8,000 in Medicaid and food stamp benefits over two years by fraudulently claiming her son lived with her, according to arrest warrants.
Dana Nichole Thomas, 27, of 3212 Enchanting Way, qualified for the benefits by saying that her minor son, Brandon lived with her, the warrants say. Instead, the boy lives in Pennsylvania with his great-grandparents.
According to the warrants, Thomas received $4,696.47 in Medicaid benefits between July 2008 and March 2009 and $3,393 in food stamps between February 2007 and March 2009.
Thomas was being held in the Wake County Jail Sunday under a $12,000 secured bond. Her first court appearance was scheduled for Monday.
