Raleigh woman charged with embezzlement

— A Raleigh woman employed by the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer is accused of stealing money.

Faith Inez Jackson, 46, of 2534 Lake Wheeler Road, was arrested and charged Wednesday with embezzlement.

According to an arrest warrant, Jackson took eight checks totaling $1,943.04 from the state’s unclaimed property program.

She was being held Wednesday in the Wake County jail under $2,500 bond. Jackson’s first court appearance was set for Thursday.

    Unclaimed property is always ripe for plunder. At least they caught it early as it could have totaled a lot more.

    Just because it was unclaimed, it wasn't her decision to steal the money. She had a job, why throw all that away. She could have gotten a part time job if she needed extra money.

    She will never be able to work for the State or any financial institution.

    less than 2k!?!? 1) not exactly news! 2)her life is ruined even without her picture/name all over the "news". 3) what's next? speeding violations made public that way ...
    bottom line: crime should meet minimum criteria before it gets reported.

    If she indeed did this and is found guilty, she will have thrown away a state job and her credibility for less than $2000. Sad.
