Raleigh woman charged in hit-and-run crash

Posted January 27, 2013

— A Raleigh woman is facing charges after a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning on Interstate 440 at Western Boulevard, police said.

Investigators say Leslie Gemmell, 31, plowed into the back of another car and then drove off. She was later arrested and charged with felony hit and run and driving while impaired.

The victim, whose name was released, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Police say Gemmell had been drinking alcohol and also seemed to be under the influence of another impairing substance. Investigators are waiting on the results of a blood test, which could take several weeks.

According to my research, this is at least this woman's THIRD DUI and hit and run. She needs to be put in jail, FOR GOOD. She has shown she has no consideration for anyone but herself.

"The victim, whose name was released, suffered minor injuries in the crash."

    Well then - what's the victim's name?

Without stiffer 1st time offender penalties, these drunk drivers believe there are no "real" consequences and more lives will be lost. It's a crying shame.

This girl should still be in jail, her record is HORRIBLE. Appears she could be a habitual driving while impaired candidate!! After all the chances she has been given before you would have thought she would have learned. Sad story, prayers to the victims family
