RALEIGH, N.C. — A 39-year-old woman who police believe is homeless was arrested Saturday for standing nude at a major Raleigh intersection for the third time in six weeks.

Officers arrested Lynette Marie Layton around 8:30 a.m. after getting numerous reports of a naked woman standing along Wake Forest Road. She had her clothes piled beside her and was in full view of passing traffic, police said.

Layton told police that she would only put her clothes on again if they took her to jail.

Police said they believe that Layton is homeless and wanted a warm place to stay. Temperatures were in the mid 40s Saturday morning.

Layton was charged with indecent exposure for incidents on Oct. 29 at Glenwood Avenue and Lead Mine Road and on Oct. 19 at Wake Forest and Six Forks roads.
