Raleigh Vehicle Fee Raised $5

The City Council voted Tuesday to raise the annual motor vehicle fee for Raleigh residents from $20 to $25.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The City Council voted Tuesday to raise the annual motor vehicle fee for Raleigh residents from $20 to $25.

State lawmakers gave Raleigh the authority to raise the fee, with the understanding that the extra revenue be used for transportation purposes.

City officials said they expect the increase to generate about $1.4 million a year.
