RALEIGH, N.C. — A mail delivery turned into a standoff on Wednesday afternoon that lasted several hours in a Raleigh neighborhood near Tryon Road.

The United States Postal Service said they intercepted a piece of mail containing drugs and asked local law enforcement to help them arrest people in the home, at the corner of Verde and Fairway Drives, where it was being delivered.

Two people surrendered themselves to authorities and a third person barricaded himself in the home, authorities said. After a period of time, the third person surrendered and police found additional drugs in the home.

The situation ended just before 4 p.m., but neighbors said they were on edge for hours.
