Raleigh shooting victim out of hospital

One of two people found with gunshot wounds in Raleigh was released from the hospital Saturday, hospital officials said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — One of two people found with gunshot wounds in Raleigh was released from the hospital Saturday, hospital officials said.

Officers responded to a shooting call near the intersection of Cross and S. Fisher streets around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers found Johnny Lee Hemingway, 49, and Janae Marie Lassiter, 16, who were struck by gunfire. The two were transported to Wake Med hospital for what was believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

Lassiter was released Saturday, but Hemingway remains at the hospital. He was listed in good condition Sunday evening.

Authorities have not released more information about the shooting.
