Raleigh schedules application, interviews for teen employment program

Posted March 3, 2014

The Raleigh Summer Youth Employment Program will start accepting applications and conducting interviews at parks across the city this week.

The program is for teens ages 15 to 18 to develop their skills and prepare for future employment by spending the summer working for the city. Teens must live within the Raleigh city limits.

Teens in the program usually work 20 to 30 hours a week and earn $7.25 an hour. Positions include office work, light labor and recreation counselors.

Many of the teens also take part in life skills development workshops throughout the year. The workshops aim to help teens develop a variety of skills and learn about employment readiness, communication, budgeting, decision-making and conflict resolution.

Earlier this week, I wrote about a teen job readiness workshop in Durham.
