Raleigh restaurant shooting now murder case

Police have upgraded a charge to murder against a man in custody for a restaurant shooting earlier this week in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police have upgraded a charge to murder against a man in custody for a restaurant shooting earlier this week in Raleigh.

Jim Sughrue, a spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department, said Friday afternoon that the victim in that shooting, Tu Hoang Nguyen, 35, died from his injuries shortly after 2 p.m. Friday.

Nhan Thuong Le, 37, was arrested after the shooting Sunday on a charge of attempted murder in the case. He was being held in the Wake County jail on Friday.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a dispute outside Café Trang, at 3314 Capital Blvd., shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. They have not said what led to the dispute.
