— Police have upgraded a charge to murder against a man in custody for a restaurant shooting earlier this week in Raleigh.

Jim Sughrue, a spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department, said Friday afternoon that the victim in that shooting, Tu Hoang Nguyen, 35, died from his injuries shortly after 2 p.m. Friday.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a dispute outside Café Trang, at 3314 Capital Blvd., shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. They have not said what led to the dispute.

Anyone with information about the case that might help detectives is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357.

I never said a permit holder wants to draw attention to themselves. I am just saying that unless someone is in the law enforcement or security profession where a weapon is a tool of the job, walking around with one under your coat or in your purse, especially in the triangle metro area, is utter paranoia and warrants psychological evaluation that probably would have precluded the permit.

You can say all you want about the people legeally carrying firearms because the moderator will not allow us to defend our side of the constitution.

rroutput - drawing negative attention is oneself is NOT was a permit holder does. Wherever would you get that idea? It is an effort, a big one, to get a permit for a concealed carry. If one is a hot headed gun nut ... guess what, the CCW instuctor says, NO, you don't pass -- go home. Give us red blooded Americans more credit than that.

"Actually, those who have legally obtained a concealed carry license are carrying to protect themselves from those who have obtained their firearms in an illegal manner."

So, they are protecting themselves against the .0001 percent of the population who is both criminal and gun toting. Those types are much more likely to get punched in the face long before they have a chance to draw their gun, disarmed, and shot with the weapon they applied for a permit for than to actually encounter a situation where they will be able to use their beloved firearm to defend themselves.

Actually, those who have legally obtained a concealed carry license are carrying to protect themselves from those who have obtained their firearms in an illegal manner. Nobody registers and gives their prints to the government for a concealed carry license if they intend on committing illegal acts of violence. Stop typecasting the honest folks and worry about those buying unregistered firearms illegally.

See? If only more people had more guns and BIGGER guns, this kind of thing would just magically STOP!

Pretty much anyone that carries a gun with them daily or has assault weapons in their home has the same cowardly affliction.
