RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police asked Friday for the public's help to identify a man they believe robbed and assaulted an elderly man outside a bank in early July.

Police said the robber attacked a 68-year-old man, who was making a deposit for his employer, outside the SunTrust Bank, 3620 Six Forks Road, around 1:30 p.m. on July 1.

The robber ran to a compact, silver or champagne SUV parked nearby, police said. It was last seen going north on Six Forks Road and was occupied by other people.

Police described the robber as black, with a light to medium skin tone, about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing around 250 pounds. He has a distinctively long goatee.

He was wearing a blue baseball cap, blue T-shirt, dark-colored jean shorts and black and white sneakers.
