RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are looking for at least three men wanted in an attempted burglary and assault two weeks ago.

Investigators say a homeowner on Hayling Drive woke up around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 29 to three people breaking into his home.

The homeowner told police that when he went to investigate, two of the would-be robbers took off in an older-model burgundy Ford Windstar with tinted windows and that someone from the van fired a gunshot at him.

The third man – described as a chubby black man in his early 20s, wearing dark-colored clothes and a white and red hat – ran away. Police said a fourth man might have been in the van.

Detailed descriptions of the other men weren't available.

No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to contact Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357.

Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
