Raleigh police, SBI help catch wanted New Bern man

Raleigh police and officials with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation helped New Bern police on Tuesday track down a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting.

KINSTON, N.C. — Raleigh police and State Bureau of Investigation agents Tuesday helped New Bern police track down a man wanted in a fatal shooting.

Authorities stopped Stan Dale Williams, 27, as he drove in Kinston around 4 a.m. He was wanted in connection with a killing at Club Insomnia in New Bern.

Police charged Williams with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a weapon into occupied property and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Authorities placed him in the Craven County Jail under a $1 million bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.

Williams was released from the N.C. Department of Correction on Nov. 27, 2008, after serving time for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, police said.
