— Raleigh police say a widely circulating e-mail warning residents about a series of robberies in area Wal-Mart parking lots isn't accurate.

Since Jan. 1, 2010, one person has reported being robbed while in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in Raleigh, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said. That incident involved a purse snatching, and a suspect in the case was identified and arrested.

"As always, the Raleigh Police Department advises people to be alert and aware of their surroundings while doing shopping and other activities, but there is no reason to believe that heightened danger exists in retail parking lots," Sughrue said.

    seankelly15 -
Wait a minute...don't do what the media does. I am a conservative, but I have yet to commit a murder (though the thought has crossed my mind...), I don't eavesdrop (I can be bored without listening to someone lie or bragg), and I am not hypocritical (and I try hard not to be). So don't lump everyone into a big ball. If you do that then I would have to believe that you are a liberal/thieving/won't ever listen to reason/might drown if it rains (nose stuck up in the air so high) Democrat. Not trying to start a fight...just sayin don't be so quick to lump people into one group or another.

mcorson2 - If you have real evidence that the story is inaccurate or that the Raleigh Police Department is withholding information, then please share it. Otherwise, your comment is no different than the e-mails.

GWALLY - "What, you mean like the news media did before they and the liberal/entitlement democrats started blaming the shootings in Tucson on the TEA Party or Sarah Palin???...yes I certainly agree with you..!!!!"

    No, like the conservative/murdering/eavesdropping/hypocritical Republicans.

The theft takes place inside the store - at the cash register.

Wally winky's prices are only lower on select items.

They stick to the poor folks who do all their shopping there.

Don't shop there, don't blame the store for the publics stupidity

actually, the walmart in Smithfield has been averaging a hold-up in their parking lot, at least once a week. Channel 5 should investigate this.
