Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh police said Wednesday that they have made an arrest in an April 2012 homicide that was first ruled accidental.
Larry Kenneth Allen, 63, was taken to WakeMed on April 27, 2012, after he reportedly fell. He died five days later, the same day police received a tip that he was injured in an assault, not a fall.
An autopsy determined that Allen's death was a homicide.
Police charged Teddy Ray Melvin, 24, of 4903 Briarstone Court, Raleigh, on Wednesday with murder in the case. He was taken to the Wake County jail, where he was being held without bond.
Police said the crime was not random but offered no possible motive or relationship between Melvin and Allen.
