— Raleigh police said Friday they have charged a suspect in the 1971 shooting death of a cab driver.

Officers went to 100 E. Bragg St. about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, 1971, and found Ralph Smith, 51, lying dead outside of his cab.

Homicide detectives continued to look into the case over the years and said they developed enough evidence to arrest Sinatra Dunn, 70, of Carrboro.

Dunn was taken into custody Friday.

Police did not provide more details about the case or say what led to Dunn’s arrest.

WOW! That over 41 years ago. I guess he thought he was getting away with it. Thanks to the people who continue to work on the case. Just wondering how his family is handling all of this. His children and grandchildren. But a life is never to be taken. I hope he and others realize that.
