RALEIGH, N.C. — Officers with the Raleigh Police Department were investigating a homicide in the 2400 block of Rock Quarry Road on Wednesday evening after the discovery of a woman's body.

Officers were called to the home shortly after 4 p.m. and identified the woman late Wednesday night as Carolyn Hall Jeffries, 68.

The crime came as a shock to nearby residents and none of them reported seeing or hearing a struggle of any kind before the body was discovered.

"I don't hear nothing bad happening over here," said neighbor Evangeline Campbell.

Before placing crime scene tape around the area, Campbell said she heard arriving officers yelling at the home. At the time, she said it seemed as though police officers thought a suspect might be inside.

Police have remained tight-lipped about the investigation and did not say how the woman died or if they have any suspect information.

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357.
