— Police were investigating the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man Sunday evening just east of downtown Raleigh.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call in the 2400 block of Melvid Court. Upon arrival, officers found the body of Reginald Alton Dunn near the intersection of Melvid Court and Peyton Street, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.

Paramedics transported Dunn to WakeMed where he later died, Sughrue said.

Anyone with information that might assist the ongoing investigation is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department's Detective Division at 919-996-3555 or Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP.

I grew up around the corner from this guy and his family. I spoke to his sister yesterday morning before this happened to wish her a happy mothers day. This is sad. I'm praying for the whole family to be strong through this ordeal.

archmaker- you should have respect not only for fallen officers but anyone who was taken before their time.
