Raleigh police close streets after domestic situation

print friendly

Raleigh police say a situation involving a man barricaded alone inside a house for several hours Monday has ended peacefully.

Police responded to a home on Edgedale Drive shortly before noon after receiving reports of gunshots in the area.

Authorities closed off nearby streets and asked residents to stay inside their houses.

It's unclear what happened exactly.

A police spokeswoman would say only that the situation was resolved "without further incident" and that the individual was taken for a medical evaluation.

LOL at anneonymousone's description of "domestic situation". That's terrific! I will borrow that.

Euphemisms can be misleading. A domestic situation means that while serving coffee, a person realizes that there are too few teaspoons.

This article is about violence. Although the majority of cases of such abuse include a male perpetrator and a female survivor, I am not willing to give crimes of this sort a gender-specific name. But we have got to find a clearer, meaningful way to refer to partner abuse.
