— A patrol cruiser crashed into a home at 8041 Satillo Lane in north Raleigh around 11 p.m. Saturday, Raleigh police said.

Cpl. D.L. Bond was behind the wheel when the crash occurred, police said. Bond was treated and released from a local hospital.

Occupants of the house were evacuated after a gas line started to leak.

Police were still looking into the cause of a crash but said that Bond was not involved in a chase at the time of the crash.

And because Raleigh is "self-insured" (translation - no insurance at all) the homeowner will be responsible for the repairs on the house (or at least their insurance company will.) I think it is past due for the citizens of Raleigh to make their civic leaders be responsible and get some REAL insurance.
