RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh police officer responding to a call was involved in a four-vehicle wreck in downtown Raleigh Thursday night, police said.

Officer W.A. Lane pulled in front of another car while turning left from Martin Street onto Wilmington Street, police said. His cruiser struck that car, then spun around and hit two parked cars.

No one was injured.

Witnesses told police that Lane had a red light, and the other driver had a green light. Police said they are continuing to investigate the wreck.

Lane was responding to a request for assistance from another officer, police said. He has been with the Raleigh Police Department for about two years.
