Raleigh police officer involved in collision
A traffic collision involving a Raleigh police officer downed power lines and traffic signals Saturday evening, according to the Raleigh Police Department.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to a wreck report, Josefina Hernandez Herrera, 40, was traveling south on North Raleigh Boulevard shortly after 6 p.m. when an officer in an unmarked Raleigh police vehicle made "an improper right turn" in front of Herrera's SUV, onto Milburnie Road.
Herrera, who had six passengers, hit the police vehicle, driven by Isaac Perez Jr., 48, causing it to strike a utility pole.
No one was seriously hurt.
Perez was attempting to check in on an emergency call at the time of the wreck, according to wreck report.
It's unclear if he faces any charges in the wreck. Police spokesman Jim Sughure said the wreck is still under investigation.
"When it’s completed, the findings will be reviewed, and a determination will be made concerning charges and disciplinary action," he said.
Herrera was cited for driving without an operator's license and also for not having a child in the car properly restrained.
