Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh City Council voted unanimously Thursday to name the city's longtime chief financial officer as the interim city manager.
Perry James, who is a 31-year veteran of the city, replaces outgoing city manager Russell Allen, whose last day is July 1.
James will run the day-to-day operations of the city until a permanent replacement is named.
James is a native of Wilmington and earned a bachelor's degree in business and accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
