Raleigh mother accused of beating 8-month-old child

Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh mother was charged Friday with severely beating her 8-month-old child in late October. 

According to an arrest warrant, Trista Denise Miles, 22, fractured her child's skull and caused other serious injuries in an incident on Oct. 24. The child also suffered broken ribs, a broken leg, a laceration to the pancreas and a bruised liver and spleen, according to police.

Miles faces one count of child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. 

She was in the Wake County jail Saturday under a $200,000 secured bond and is scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday.

But really - should this person ever be allowed to have another child? I don't think the government should go around sterilizing people - and I am pro-choice - but how do you ensure that another child is not born to a person that has this kind of disregard for human life? I mean we court order animal abuser to not own pets - what could be done to protect a potential child born to this woman if she were to get pregnant? It's enough to turn your stomach.

It is people like that that need to be locked up and the key thrown away. What she did to this baby, she deserves to rot in prison!

Some of these young mother's don't need to be having kids. She needs to be sent up the road!
