RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man who shot himself while accompanying police officers to a home last week as part of an investigation has died, police said Monday.

The unidentified man wasn't in custody when he went with officers on Thursday evening to a home at 4716 Parr Vista Court, police said. He was able to grab a personal handgun there and shoot himself in the head.

An officer used a Taser to try to prevent the suicide attempt, but no officers fired their guns during the incident, police said.

The man died Saturday at WakeMed.

The shooting and the initial case police were looking into both remain under investigation, police said.
