— A Raleigh man who shot himself while accompanying police officers to a home last week as part of an investigation has died, police said Monday.

The unidentified man wasn't in custody when he went with officers on Thursday evening to a home at 4716 Parr Vista Court, police said. He was able to grab a personal handgun there and shoot himself in the head.

An officer used a Taser to try to prevent the suicide attempt, but no officers fired their guns during the incident, police said.

The man died Saturday at WakeMed.

The shooting and the initial case police were looking into both remain under investigation, police said.

If you do not know him please leave your stupid comments to yourself. As for his family and friends - we loved him and miss him very much. Please pray for us; our hearts are heavy and we are in grief. Too many questions and not enough answers.

Such a tragic ending. The question remains, what were the police looking for, and what did this man know or do? Choosing to die rather than face his actions tells me that what he did, he must have felt terrible about and could not bear the idea of it getting out. Praying for those who love him who are left with no answers.

"Everyone has their issues and things they have done that they are not proud of. Please do not judge this great man by this one act alone. You will be missed by all of your friends who love you. Deepest condolences to the family."

    Agreed - 100%.

Do not always assume that you know all the details bc of a news article either. This was a great man, and the people you should feel sorry for is the man's family, and his daughters. Not everything is as cut and dry as the media may make it seem. You are missed brother, see you on the other side. I know you are looking out for us all from the higher view you have now, just as you did from down here. Love you man.

There's not much info here, but it sounds pretty fishy. Easy for the police to say suicide.

I'm glad that the officer that pulled out his taser wasn't shot by the suspect. Tasers are not meant to be used in deadly force situations.
