RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert early Sunday for a Raleigh man who is believed to have some degree of cognitive impairment.

Police said they are familiar with James Keith McGirt, who has a history of wandering away.

McGirt, 49, was last seen wearing a green and orange striped, short-sleeve polo shirt with light-colored jeans and light blue sneakers.

He is described as a Native American man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 240 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes.

In the alert, it was noted that McGirt twitches his right arm when he walks.

A police spokesman said officers had found McGirt before in the Moore Square area of downtown Raleigh and start their search for him Sunday near there.

Anyone who sees McGirt is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department at 919-829-1911.
