Carrollton, Va. — A charred body found early Tuesday near Newport News, Va., has been identified as a man from Raleigh.
Authorities in Isle of Wight County found Torrey Lamont Anderson, 21, dead near a burning vehicle in a wooded area in Carrollton, about 175 miles northeast of Raleigh.
Anderson, whose last known address was in the 3200 block of Marcony Way, had been shot, the Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, they said, but offered no other details about the crime, including a possible motive.
