A 24-year-old Raleigh man died early Friday after he lost control of his car and hit a guardrail while traveling eastbound on Interstate 540, state Highway Patrol officials said.

Authorities said Patrick Raymond Lee was between Six Forks and Falls of Neuse Road around 12:30 a.m. when he lost control of his car. Troopers said speed was a factor in the wreck.

No other information was released.

sad ... this is a dangerous area because people try to get off on falls and people don't let you easily get to the right. So you have to speed or slow way down of which neither is easy to do to get to the right ... there needs to be another lane in just that area.

My heart goes out to the Lee Family....On 10/16/10 my son was killed on the off ramp on 540 & Louisburg Road in which speed was a factor...To all the young drivers...SLow down !!!

If there is a wreck on I-540 speed is almost always a factor. It's like a NASCAR racetrack out there! I've done 75mph and still gotten passed.

I drove by this at 1am, I knew nobody survived.

Condolences to those who loved him. He was a friend of a friend and I know they are hurting.....

"It's unfortunate that family members and friends need to see pictures of the terrible wreckage and imagine the horrific injuries their loved one sustained with his death."

I agree with that BUT if it saves just ONE life it will have been worth it.
