Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh man has been indicted on two counts of murder in the deaths of his wife and 2-year-old daughter inside their west Raleigh home.
Elhadji Diop, 53, is accused of killing his wife, 40-year-old Aminata Drame, and daughter, Fatim Diop, in early April.
Authorities say Diop posted photos on social media showing the bodies of his wife and daughter after the crime.
The bodies were discovered after Raleigh police officers were called to the home to conduct a welfare check.
When they arrived, police also found that Elhadji Diop had self-inflicted lacerations and had ingested toxic substances. He was taken to WakeMed for treatment and was formally charged after being released.
Diop was granted a capital defender, and he is being held in the Wake County Detention Center under no bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for May 8.
