Raleigh man dies in wreck on I-540
Wence Funes-Ortiz, 29, was driving on I-540 when his vehicle veered off the road, striking a sign and trees, and overturning. The wreck occurred between the Six Forks Road and Falls of Neuse Road exits just before 1 p.m.
Posted — UpdatedRALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man died after a wreck on Interstate 540 Saturday afternoon, the state Highway Patrol said.
Wence Funes-Ortiz, 29, was driving on I-540 when his vehicle veered off the road, striking a sign and trees, and overturning. The wreck occurred between the Six Forks Road and Falls of Neuse Road exits just before 1 p.m.
Funes-Ortiz was taken to WakeMed, where he died.
Trooper Eric L. Hunt said Funes-Ortiz was driving erratically and speed was a factor in the wreck.
