Raleigh man charged with taking marijuana to jail

Arrest warrants state that Matthew William Loudermilk, 24, of 2509 Holbrook Court, had a half-ounce of marijuana hidden in his left shoe while he was in custody at the jail.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man was charged Friday with trying to take marijuana into the Wake County jail, according to arrest warrants.

The warrants state that Matthew William Loudermilk, 24, of 2509 Holbrook Court, had a half-ounce of marijuana hidden in his left shoe while he was in custody at the jail. He also had packs of rolling papers on his person, according the warrants.

Loudermilk was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in jail premises, possession of marjuana up to a half-ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was being held under a $37,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday.

Last October, Loudermilk was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia and sentenced to probation, according to state Department of Correction records.
