RALEIGH, N.C. — A 28-year-old Raleigh man was arrested Thursday on charges he repeatedly raped a teen over the course of eight months.

Ivan Aguilar Tobon, of 3234 Calumet Drive, Apt. D, in Raleigh, faces six counts apiece of statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child. He was being held at the Wake County Detention Center under a $3 million secured bond and was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Tobon was pulled over by police investigating a report that two girls had been forced into an SUV in northeast Raleigh.

Police later determined that Thursday morning report of a kidnapping to be a false alarm, and when Tobon was arrested, he was alone. Police would not comment on whether the kidnapping report and Tobon's arrest are connected.

Jim Sughrue, spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department, said the offenses are isolated to a single victim and that Tobon doesn't appear to be a threat to others.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) notified Raleigh police that there was suspicion about whether Tobon was in the country legally and asked to be informed if he was to be released from custody.
