Raleigh man charged with raping child

A Raleigh man was arrested Friday amid accusations that he raped a child less than 13 years old.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man was arrested Friday amid accusations that he raped a child less than 13 years old.

Samuel Lamont Richardson, 27, faces one count of first-degree rape of a child and two counts each of first-degree sex offense with a child and taking indecent liberties with a child, along with begging and resisting or obstructing a police officer.

Arrest warrants stated the abuse occurred between December 2006 and June 2010.

Richardson, whose exact address was unknown, was placed in the Wake County jail under a $251,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.

He served probation for 2009 convictions for felony possession with intent to sell and resisting an officer in Harnett County, according to state Department of Correction records.
