Raleigh man charged with rape, kidnapping

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man was charged Tuesday on accusations that he raped a woman.

Stepvon Dee Batts, 24, of 622 Rawls Drive, Raleigh, faces charges of first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping in the alleged assault, which happened Dec. 8, according to an arrest warrant.

Batts was jailed under a $550,000 secured bond on the charges.

Wake County court records show he was also arrested Dec. 18 and was still in jail on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
